White Whale Lodge

Churchill Polar Bear Photography Tour

White Whale Lodge in Churchill, Canada.

Sleep on the Tundra

Unlike all other hotels in the Churchill area, cozy White Whale Lodge is situated outside of the city, in the heart of the Canadian tundra, where our guests can embrace the dramatic solitude of the subarctic wilderness, yet close enough to town to sample Churchill’s restaurants each evening.

Located in Polar Bear Territory

Staying at the lodge maximizes our guests time among bears each day by significantly reducing the travel time to Polar Bear Alley and other remote bear viewing hotspots that are far from Churchill.

Polar Bears at White Whale Lodge
It is not uncommon for bears to wander right up to the lodge’s perimeter fence. Nowhere else in Churchill boasts world class polar bear viewing opportunities even when you are not actively on a tour!

Foxes and Wolves at White Whale Lodge
Red, Cross, Silver, and Arctic Foxes are all common visitors at the lodge. Occasionally it is even possible to see wolves, but they are less common during at the height of the Polar Bear Migration.

Unparalleled Northern Lights Viewing
On clear nights, White Whale Lodge is an excellent place to photograph the surreal Northern Lights which are hidden by street light pollution to visitors staying at lodgings in town.
If you’ve never photographed northern lights before, your trip leader (award winning photographer Andy Murch) will show you exactly how to shoot the Aurora Borealis.
