Sadly, Norway was still closed to non-Europeans during the 2021 orca season so we were not able to go this year, but the Norwegian crew that we work with, sent me an encouraging report of the season that I am sharing it below. Bear in mid that english is not his first language 🙂
It was a quite stable season. The orcas arrived earlier than last November. I think it was 30th October (09th November in 2020). There has been few humpbacks in the beginning, very different to last winter. Overall number of orcas was a bit lower than last winter – best day with about 150 was 26th November.
We did see orcas and humpbacks each day on sea. On two days we did not go due to weather. We did run 5 Weeks.
Tours on M/S DUEN worked fine. Crew worked really well, and food was good and service on board. New Zodiacs we bought worked fine.
We did have some nice events with lectures about orcas and nice aurora to enjoy from the hot tub on board.
So we are looking forward for next season!
