A GRIZZLY BEAR EXPEDITION LIKE NO OTHER!

There are a number of places in the Northern Hemisphere where you can see grizzly bears but none are as extreme as the encounters in Kamchatka in Eastern Russia. This is an expedition for serious wildlife photographers and nature lovers that are looking for a wilder experience.

This is your chance to spend time literally among scores of grizzly bears as they forage with their cubs.

THE GRIZZLY FEAST

The bears gather in large numbers around Kuril Lake each August to gorge themselves on spawning salmon. The oil rich fishes are an important source of calories that will help sustain them through the long Russian winter.

A VERY SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY TO CAPTURE A NEW PERSPECTIVE

Although most of the trip involves time with the bears above water, during the expedition, each guest will also have a chance to try photographing bears as they hunt in the river. In order to do this in relative safety, we have a cage that can be partially submerged so that the bears can come extremely close when they become curious.

TRY YOUR LUCK AT POLE CAMMING

Another way to get really close to the bears is to pole cam from the bridge over the river. If you've never done this before, its an interesting technique that can yield some amazing images.

EXPLORE ONE OF THE LAST TRULY WILD PLACES ON THE PLANET

Kamchatka's utter remoteness (and inhospitable climate for most of the year) has been its salvation. Where other 'wild areas' have been tamed with roads and are filled with tourists, Kamchatka remains unspoiled and largely pristine. The rugged, volcanic landscape is unmarred by paved roads or fancy hotels but now the Russian economy has stabilized, many intrepid travellers are starting to look northward. This is your chance to experience raw nature before it is tamed.
